Paula, a certified metal clay artist and instructor, has been teaching the art of metal clay to others since 2002. Her enthusiasm, good humor and ability to convey instructions simply and clearly make for the perfect combination of learning while having fun. In addition to teaching she co-owns One Sweet Bead with her daughter Stacey, a lampwork artist, and is also and accomplished woodcarver, metalsmith and jewelry designer.
Your Heart's Desire Pendant
Learn how to create this hollow, two sided silver pendant. In this class you will learn how to blend sterling and fine silver clays to create silver 960, a version that offers the best qualities of each individual clay. After learning the basics of working with metal clay including rolling and texturing we'll move on the creating hollow forms using the amazing template kits from Janet Alexandar and a simple no fail technique for stone setting. This class also covers sanding, firing and finishing including adding a patina so you can take your beautiful finished pendant home to enjoy and share with friends and family!
Intro to Scratchfoam & PMC Flex
Learning to use Scratch Foam is incredibly simple and produces amazing results. Using a pen and a ball burnisher I'll help you create a unique texture that will give you a beautifully raised design ready to use with one of metal clays newest products. PMC Flex is exactly the same as PMC3 but stays flexible when dry. This feature allows you to make surface details like coils and even a large closed jump ring that we'll fire in place on your pendant. Once fired a little patina is added for some color. This class is for the beginner as well as students with experience. Join us and have some fun with Scratch Foam & PMC Flex!

Relics - A Multi-Technique Workshop
Our newest class offering combines 3 new skills into 1 fantastic class. Start with the basics of silver metal clay including stone setting, texturing and firing to create an original piece. Next move on to learn the basics of copper etching to creating a unique backdrop for our fine silver piece. Last but not least master simple cold connections to layer your pieces into one stunning pendant.

Molding Madness - Working with molds & layering
Create your own unique fine silver layer bracelet with lampwork closure in this new class. In this class our skill focus is on layering pieces along with using found objects and molding materials to create a reusable silicon mold. You'll also learn all the basics of silver metal clay including firing, patinas and polishing. Great class for all skill levels.

Who doesn't love rings? Let me show you a way to make PMC3 rings that fit perfectly after firing with a new product called RingCores. In class you'll learn to work with PMC3 by rolling, coiling, texturing and setting stones then building onto the sterling RingCore blank, using it as your creative canvas. After sanding and firing we'll tumble, polish and patina to bring out your lovely designs. Ring making is a lot more fun and you get a perfect fit every time!
